Lerøy’s salmonid harvest increases while cod volumes fall

Lerøy Seafood Group (LSG) harvested 49,415 metric tons (MT) of salmon and trout gutted weight tonnage (GWT) in the fourth quarter of last year, an increase of 7,135 MT compared to the corresponding period of 2017.

According to the Norwegian seafood company’s latest trading update, larger volumes were harvested at its three locations of Lerøy Aurora (14,421 MT), Lerøy Midt (18,808 MT), and Lerøy Sjøtroll (16,186 MT). These preliminary results mean LSG’s salmonid harvest for the full-year 2018 reached 162,039 MT, up from 157,767 MT in 2017.

Within LSG’s wild-catch segment, Havfisk's total catch volume in the last quarter was 11,515 MT, compared with 12,343 MT in Q4 2018. Of the harvest volume in Q4 2018, 6,534 MT was cod, down from 8,511 MT a year previously.
