Louisiana law enforcement issues citations for fishing violations, illegally selling recreationally caught fish

Louisiana Department of Fish and Wildlife agents cited a subject for illegally selling fish caught recreationally in St. Tammany Parish, 30 May.

According to LDFW, the agents received a complaint about Slidell, Louisiana, U.S.A. resident Markeegan J. Gray, 22, selling fried fish plates out of his residence for USD 15.00 (EUR 13.00). An investigation found Gray was advertising the plates on social media and confronted him at his residence. Gray admitted that he had caught the fish recreationally two weeks earlier.

Law enforcement seized 104 speckled trout fillets from the residence, which were donated to charity. Gray faces a fine between USD 400 to USD 950 (EUR 350 to EUR 831) and civil restitution of USD 1,625 (EUR 1,422).

In a separate enforcement action, LDFW agents cited two subjects for illegally fishing in Caldwell Parish on 14 June.

Agents on patrol in the Beouf River ovserved Rayville, Louisiana resident Chase Faughn, 36, and Columbia, Louisiana resident Kassey Mauldin fishing with a fishing bow and a shocking device. A catfish was released back into the water, and the two face a fine between USD 400 and USD 900 (EUR 350 to EUR 787).
