Marine Harvest 3Q earnings drop

Marine Harvest on Tuesday said it produced more than 90,000 metric tons (MT) of salmon in the third quarter of 2012.

Norway accounted for 58,000 MT, Chile for 10,000 MT, Canada for 8,000 MT and Scotland for 13,000 MT. Other sites accounted for 4,000 MT for a total of 93,000 MT.

Harvest volumes are provided in head-on gutted equivalents.

In addition, operational EBIT for the company was about NOK 65 million, down from NOK 457 million in the third quarter of last year. The company said harvest volume from Norway contributed a total operational EBIT through the value chain of NOK 2.3 per kilogram. The results for the Chilean and Canadian activities were adversely impacted by the challenging market conditions during the quarter.

Marine Harvest will release its full third-quarter results on 26 October.
