Measure to study EMS passed

The House put the finishing touches on a resolution Tuesday that asks Congress to study the causes, effects, prevention and treatment of early mortality syndrome in shrimp.

House Concurrent Resolution 120 by Rep. Joe Harrison, R-Napoleonville, asks Congress to look at domestic and international trends and to “take all appropriate actions necessary to fully protect the shrimp industry in Louisiana and other states from this disease.”

The resolution passed by a 96-0 vote.
