Norway-based sardine producer King Oscar on Monday announced the appointment of a new head of its U.S. operations and the relocation of its corporate offices.
John Engle, former VP of marketing for Bumble Bee Seafoods, will replace Bob Montano as president of King Oscar USA. Montano is retiring after 17 years as president.
Engle has more than 11 years of experience in the seafood industry. Prior to working at Bumbe Bee, he worked for Schering-Plough Health Care Products and held a n umber of executive positions at General Mills.
“Filling Bob’s shoes is going to be quite an undertaking,” said Engle. “What is exciting about this position is King Oscar’s unquestioned advantage in quality in all of the shelf-stable products it sells.”
The company also moved its headquarters from San Francisco to San Diego.
