Ocean Beauty is participating once again in the opening of the Copper River king salmon season, providing the first salmon for the Copper Chef cookoff.
The annual cookoff is sponsored by Alaska Airlines, which will fly the salmon to Seattle, where the cookoff takes place.
“We’ve been supplying the first fish for a number of years now, and we’re very proud of that,” said Frank Ragusa, general manager of Ocean Beauty’s Seattle distribution facility. “This partnership with Alaska Airlines has been great because Alaska Airlines really gets it when it comes to getting fish out of Alaska.”
The event coincides with the opening of the Alaska salmon season. Officials predict that this year’s catch will set a record as the eighth-largest catch on record.
