Oceanaire's Malarkey to Host TV Cooking Segment

Brian Malarkey, executive chef of The Oceanaire Seafood Room in San Diego and a contestant on the hit cable TV show "Top Chef 3: Miami," now has his own weekly TV cooking segment.

Malarkey can be seen every Friday at about 9:07 a.m. on "San Diego Living," which airs weekdays at 9 a.m. following the "Fox in the Morning" newscast.

"A weekly cooking segment lets me share my favorite recipes with Fox's viewers and gives them a taste of what goes on in the Oceanaire kitchen," says Malarkey, a member of the American Culinary Federation and Culinarians of San Diego. "I'm excited to get in front of the camera and show viewers how to have a great time in the kitchen with a few easy recipes they can make at home."

During an interview for SeaFood Business' One on One column last August, Malarkey eluded to his interest in hosting a TV cooking segment. Malarkey was dubbed "the seafood guy" on Bravo's "Top Chef 3."

Through the first four episodes, "almost every single dish I've created involves seafood," he said at the time. "Head Judge Tom Colicchio said on TV, 'Brian, you need to start cooking some meat.' But I won the seafood challenge with my conch, crawfish, clam, mussel and oyster dish. I also won the barbeque challenge, and for that I made a seafood sausage. It was really good."
