Pacific Seafood recently announced that its corporate university, Pacific Seafood University has earned accreditation status.
Ashford University, an academic institution owned by Bridgeport Education, has formed an alliance with Pacific Seafood that will allow the Portland, Ore.-based seafood supplier, one of the United States’ largest, to provide its team members with an opportunity to advance their educations at Ashford University. The agreement makes Ashford University degrees more affordable for Pacific team members by offering fee waivers for costs associated with attending the university and offering college credits for corporate university coarse work.
Pacific Seafood University offers more than 600 e-learning classes, including a management-training suite, career-path planning and product-knowledge courses on every species in the Pacific product line, as well as more than 30 live leadership classes taught by Pacific’s in-house training and development team.
“The process of creating a corporate university that meets the quality and standards to offer college credits has been an eight year project,” said Drew Jacobs, Pacific’s director of training and development. “At Pacific Seafood, people are our most important asset and we have a long tradition of investing in our team. Finding the right academic partner was important to the long term development of our team members as we believe they are worthy of the best that is out there.
“Ashford provides our team members a quality education while leveraging our internal training programs for college credit,” he added. “The character and quality of Ashford’s administrators and instructors complements our commitment as a company, making them the right choice for us.
