Port accident kills employee at Blumar site

A port accident on 4 October has left an employee of Chilean salmon farming company Blumar dead.

The accident that took 28-year-old Zenen Barra’s life involved a falling bag of sand at a warehouse owned by Blumar subsidiary Don Edmundo in port San Vincente, Chile reported Chilean news site BioBio.

First responders and coworkers were unable to save Barra’s life, as the injuries sustained were too critical, authorities said.

In a statement, Blumar expressed condolences for what happened to Barra, who was working with Blumar contractor Cabur Services Ltda. at the time of the accident.
