An association representing fishermen on the U.S. West Coast and Alaska is the newest group to join the Seafood Harvesters of America.
The Purse Seine Vessel Owners Association (PSVOA) joined the harvesters, an association representing commercial fishing organizations in America. The PSVOA joined the association in part to present a “united voice” on commercial fishing issues such as a moratorium on incidental discharge requirements, according to Bob Kehoe, PSVOA’s executive director.
“Working together, with the Harvesters, our priority is to extend this moratorium and save thousands of commercial fishermen from a ‘fish cliff’ of burdensome red-tape and costly fines for the normal operations of their boats,” Kehoe said.
