Seafarers opens new refrigerated warehouse in Florida

Seafarers, a processor, importer, and marketer of fresh and frozen seafood based in Miami, Florida, U.S.A.. has opened a new distribution facility in Medley, Florida.

The 56,000-square-foot facility includes 50,000 square feet of refrigerated and freezer space. It has the capability of storing up to 10,000 tons of product and has a capacity of 5,000 pallet positions.

“Seafarers now has the capability to ship to all their customers nationwide, and abroad, from one single shipping point,” Seafarers Vice President David Casas said in a press release.

The new facility also sports features including an ozonized ice and water system and an automatic ice rake system that will “ensure the proper handling of all fresh seafood and increase efficiency throughout the process,” Casas said.

“The new facility creates an infrastructure that allows the continued expansion of Seafarers’ already vastly diversified product line, and is another step forward in aligning [our] strategic plans of expansion into other segments of the market,” he said.

Established in 1999, the Seafarers brand includes a diversified product line of 34 different species including tuna, mahi, snapper, groupers swordfish, corvina, and salmon.
