Seafood Barcelona set to go

Organizers of Seafood Barcelona are gearing up for the 2013 trade show set to take place next week in Spain, which is expected to show off a number of Master Class presenters and new products for the seafood industry.

The event, taking place on 22 to 24 October at the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via venue in Barcelona, is produced by Diversified Business Communications, the parent company of SeafoodSource. Visitors from more than 79 countries are expected to attend and exhibit at the show, which showcases the Southern European and Maghreb markets.

“Seafood Barcelona is not only the destination where all categories of fish and seafood products and services are being launched,” said Liz Plizga, the event’s show director. “It is also a knowledge-sharing platform where buyers and suppliers can share best business practices, and through a series of educational sessions, find new opportunities to provide their customers with the best products possible.”

New products debuting at the show include processed seafood products featuring tuna, salmon and octopus. Attendees will also get to preview a new drying tunnel and a new lobster sauce product. The showcase will be on display in aisle 1000 of the hall.

Along with the new product showcase, the event will feature a number of master class interactive demonstrations, presented by industry professionals and distinguished chefs, which will feature various species known to the area markets.

“Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of various species of fish and seafood such as cod, anchovy, melva, mackerel, saltflat fish, natural fish, bream and bass. Topics to be included in these classes include how to grow, source, select, handle and prepare these species,” Plizga said.

SeafoodSource will be providing full coverage of the show. Be sure to keep checking seafoodsource.com all week for stories from the hall floor, and attendees can visit Assistant Editor April Forristall at booth 1-1039.
