Seafood Expo Global, Brussels to provide shuttles for planned strike

Diversified Communications, producers of Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global, and the city of Brussels, Belgium, are launching a complimentary shuttle service to mitigate the effects of a pending general strike expected to impact public transportation nationwide.

The strike, expected to occur on Wednesday, 22 April, is the second day of the global seafood industry’s largest trade event. Diversified, the city of Brussels and the police are working on an extensive plan to include complimentary shuttle service between accessible locations in the city of Brussels and the Brussels Expo Center for visitors and exhibitors that day.

There are six planned pickup and drop-off zones in the city for continuous shuttle service:

Rogier: Koning Albert II laan/Blvd Roi Albert II

Central Station: Kardinaal Mercierstraat

Louiza: Poelaertplein

De Brouckere: Emile Jacqmainlaan between Nieuwbrug & Sint-Michielsstraat

Europe: Karel de Grotelaan/Blvd Charlemagne

Brussels Midi-station: Europa Esplanade/Esplanade d’Europe & Blvd. Jamar

All shuttles will run from 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (07:30 to 20:00) on a continuous loop on 22 April 2015. Representatives will be present at each pick up zone in the city to assist visitors and exhibitors.

Visitors and exhibitors will be dropped off at Brussels Expo: Eeuwfeestlaan/ Av. Centenaire. Those planning to return to Brussels may also take a shuttle from this location. A city map showing pick up and drop off zones in the city will be sent in a separate communication with more details before the exposition and will also be available at the event.

To stay informed on strike developments, check www.seafoodsource.com and www.seafoodexpo.com/global for the most up-to-date information regarding the strike and additional details in reference to the provided transportation service.

Current reports indicate air travel will not be impacted. Attendees are urged to check with their airline for the most current status.
Information will be available onsite at the Strike Info Desk located in Hall 10 at the Brussels Expo. Information will also be available at all VisitBrussels desks (South Station and Brussels Airport) and the reception desks of the official hotels for Seafood Expo Global and Seafood Processing Global.
