SeaShare names Trident Seafoods 2015 NFI Donor of the Year

SeaShare presented Trident Seafoods with its 2015 NFI (National Fisheries Institute) Donor of the Year award on Monday at the annual Alaska Go Wild! reception at the Seaport Hotel.

SeaShare Board President Glenn Reed presented Trident President Joe Bundrant with the award for its donations to the APA Million Meal program and other charitable endeavors.

“Trident Seafoods has been so important to our success over the years. Donating fish, services, and funding to support many of the donation projects that we manage,” said Jim Harmon, executive director of SeaShare. “Their generosity is a great example that others want to follow.”

SeaShare works with, and for, NFI’s members, combining donations of seafood and processing with financial contributions to improve the nutritional offerings at food banks nationwide. Trident, a Seattle-based vertically integrated seafood company, donated the equivalent of 13 million meals to SeaShare as of 2014.

The company also coordinates an employee fundraising program each year during the holidays and matches those donations; it donates pink and sockeye salmon cans; and it donates to the Prohibited Species Donation Program with its boats and processing plants in Akutan, Sand Point, and Kodiak, Alaska.

Previous award recipients include High Liner Foods, Ocean Beauty Seafoods, Mazzetta Company, and the National Fisheries Institute.

SeaShare is the only nonprofit that focuses on the resources of our seafood industry to improve nutrition for America’s food bank network.
