SeaShare, a non-profit hunger-relief organization based in Bainbridge Island, Wash., recently won the Executive Alliance's Evergreen Award.
The award recognizes nonprofit organizations for their contributions to communities and well-being and is given to an organization that is a great example of collaboration. The award was presented to Seashare executives during the Washington State Nonprofit Conference earlier this month.
For 15 years, SeaShare has cultivated partnerships with seafood companies to develop a sustainable source of seafood for people in need, including a nine-year collaboration with the At-sea Processors Association. The organization's work with the APA resulted in the APA Community Catch Program, which supplies more than 1 million seafood meals annually to people in need in the United States and encourages sustainable harvest practices in U.S. fisheries.
