Taipei, Taiwan-based food manufacturer Land Young has maintained a longstanding presence in the U.S. market but is now attempting to court a new sector of the American consumer base: vegans and vegetarians.

Adapting to popular food consumption trends, Land Young recently launched its Land Ten Veggie line of products that includes the firm’s best-selling seasoned seaweed salad, of which it sells over 3,000 tons annually.

“Since our company was established in 1984 selling frozen jellyfish, we have been dedicated to providing high-quality food that aligns with local flavors and preferences. Now, we aim to provide healthier foods across the world,” Land Young President Ken Tien Lok told SeafoodSource at the 2025 Seafood Expo North America (SENA).

The line also includes a mango pomelo sago dessert that won the 2025 International Taste Institute’s Superior Taste Award.

“It has been widely accepted by our American and European clients,” Lok said.

Land Ten Veggie adds to the firm’s wide portfolio of products, which ranges from ready-to-eat convenience meals to ingredients and seasonings sold to just as wide of a range of clients, comprising wholesalers, supermarkets, and chain restaurants in North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

Its seafood offerings, most of which are sourced in Taiwan, span a wide berth, too, and include fish roe, scallops, octopus, squid, shrimp, and more.

Land Young has been coming to SENA for over 20 years, and Lok said the U.S. has been a particular focus of the company’s for a long time, with the firm working hard to create products that adhere to American preferences.

This is especially important now, Lok said, as China has maintained an unofficial ban on seafood products from Taiwan, making established connections around the globe crucial to weathering the disruptions.

“We have always had a great relationship with America and have more than 25 distributors in the country,” Lok said.
