Thai Union launches education initiative

Thai Union Frozen Products, in collaboration with the Labor Rights Promotion Network, this week launched the first TUF Care Center at Wat Sri Sutaram School in Samut Sakhom, to provide a foundation for education for children of all nationalities in the local community.

The care center classroom and facilities provides space for language classes as well as fundamental subjects that will help the school’s migrant children move into the Thai education system.

“This milestone project will be an ongoing initiative, with the company pledging its support by investing THB 10 million (USD, EUR) over the next five years into the development of similar projects across the province. TUF also plans to open a second Care Center later this year,” said Rittirong Boonmechote, Thai Union managing director.

“At TUF, we have a number of sustainability initiatives. In addition to growing business and satisfy the needs of customers and consumers, we aim to make our society sustainable too. Social development and education support is one of the areas TUF is working on under our sustainability policy and we are excited to have embarked on such an extraordinary initiative with TUF Care Center that will have a positive impact on the quality of life for children of all backgrounds and nationalities in the Samut Sakhon area.
