8. Argentina sinks Chinese-flagged vessel suspected of illegal fishing
Argentine defense vessels sunk a fishing trawling sporting the Chinese flag in March, after catching the boat fishing in waters beyond the country’s exclusive economic zone. The vessel, named Lu Yan Yuan Yu 010, was spotted fishing off of the coast of Puerto Madryn, Chubut Province on 14 March. When authorities attempted to communicate with and board the trawler, it promptly fled and later attempted ramming maneuvers against the vessels in pursuit.
