Chuck Bundrant, founder of Trident Seafoods in Seattle, says recent reports of his impending retirement "have been greatly exaggerated."
Bundrant was featured last week in a Seattle Weekly story, "King of the Fish Sticks," which detailed Bundrant's business investments and political connections, namely his relationship with outgoing Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska). A subsequent story in the seafood trade press read, "Trident's Chuck Bundrant talks retirement."
"The only people who want me to retire are my competitors," says Bundrant.
As Trident has expanded its product line and its presence both domestically and globally, Trident's executive force has grown as well, and decision-making authority has diversified accordingly. But, according to a company press release, there's no question who occupies the corner office.
"The name on the door reads, 'Chuck.'"
