Turkey’s per capita consumption of seafood increased by 11.8 percent to 6.14kg last year, according to the country’s statistical authority TurkStat. At the same time, its fishery production decreased by 0.3 percent to 628,631 metric tons (MT).
The total production was comprised of 35.3 percent wild-caught sea fish, 9.9 percent other seafood products, 4.8 percent freshwater products and around 50 percent of aquaculture species, said TurkStat.
