US government in search of pollock for school lunches

The United States Department of Agriculture put out a new bid for thousands of pounds of pollock products for school lunches and other federal programs.

The agency is asking for pollock products that will be delivered between 1 March, 2018, and 31 August, 2018, for the National School Lunch Program and other Federal and nutrition assistance programs. The bids are due by 30 August, 2017.

The requested items include: single orders of breaded pollock sticks in excess of 38,000 pounds (equivalent to one truckload) and single orders of pollock blocks in excess of 39,600 pounds (equivalent to one truckload). The government is also requesting “any order for a combination of items in excess of 1,157,600 pounds.”

Additional truckload orders may be added to suppliers that are awarded contracts at a later date. In the event multiple awards are made, fair opportunity will be given for awarding those additional delivery orders, according to the USDA.
