The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has reissued a solicitation for 108,000 pounds of walleye fillets after receiving zero bids on an identical solicitation earlier this year.

The walleye fillets are for distribution to Idaho and Missouri via the National School Lunch Program and other federal food assistance programs, according to the government’s notice. The deadline for offers I 7 December, with any contracts announced by 14 December. If a contract is awarded, the walleye fillets need to be delivered between 16 January and 29 February 2024. A third of the fillets will go to Idaho, while the remainder will go to Missouri.

The USDA first issued a solicitation for the fillets in August, but cancelled the solicitation in November after no bids were submitted.

The USDA last purchased walleye fillets in December 2022, when it issued a USD 1.3 million (EUR 1.2 million) contract to Redby, Minnesota, U.S.A.-based Red Lake Nation Fisheries for 108,000 pounds. Red Lake Nation Fisheries has won every walleye contract from the USDA since 2020.
