Vietnam's seafood exports reached $3.32 billion through September, up 21.9 percent from the same nine-month period last year, according to the country's General Statistics Office.
Frozen shrimp remained the Vietnamese seafood industry's biggest earner at $1.16 billion, a year-over-year increase of 7 percent, Nguyen Thai Phuong of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors told Asia Pulse.
However, shrimp represented 34 percent of the country's total seafood exports, down 4.7 percent from last year, due to competition from Thailand and India.
Pangasius (basa and tra) followed shrimp at $1.1 billion through September, up 5.7 percent from last year and accounting for 32.3 percent of the nation's total seafood exports.
