Young’s signs logistics deal

Food logistics company ACS&T announced Tuesday it has signed a three-year contract with Young’s Seafood.

The contract extends the service ACS&T has been providing the Grimsby-based seafood company since the 1990s.

ACS&T will continue to help Young’s minimize its primary food miles and reduce costs by cross docking the majority of the company’s deliveries to Wolverhamption. ACS&T’s experienced transport operations department uses high-tech planning software that identifies what deliveries qualify for cross docking. ?

The service will carry on help Young’s to reduce its administration time and costs, due to the Electronic Data Interchange link between the ACS&T IT system and the Young’s Seafood ordering system. The link enables information on stock levels and orders to be shared between the systems, so orders can be passed directly in real time. This system saves Young’s time and increases the accuracy of orders.

“Having worked with ACS&T for a number of years, we were confident in their ability to continue to provide a cost-effective and efficient logistics operation,” said Chris Law, Young’s logistics manager. “ACS&T pay real attention to our storage and distribution requirements and are always willing to go the extra mile to assist with ours and our customer demands.”
