A project to nurture and retain talent within the U.K. seafood industry has been unveiled by seafood public body Seafish.
The Young Seafood Leaders Network will champion young seafood professionals – between the ages of 25 and 40 – and provide a platform for knowledge sharing and identification and appreciation of best-practise. Its goals are to:
- Provide opportunities for the exploration of business ideas
- Provide networking opportunities
- Facilitate partnerships and mentoring between young professionals and experienced industry practitioners
- Develop leadership skills; and
- Identify professional development opportunities
“At Seafish we believe that seafood is the way forward. We have a vision of a thriving seafood industry. For that to happen we need to identify and grow the next generation of leadership in the industry,” said Marcus Coleman, CEO of Seafish.
“We will draw upon our unique pan-industry, pan-U.K. position to create and enable a network for the next generation of young seafood executives to come together and explore how they can innovate and lead change in the industry," he added.
