For a variety of reasons, the SeafoodSource Pricing team treats data out of Peterhead as the most important regional signal, especially because prices at Peterhead are affected by the same forces, such as quotas and scarcity, which shape global whitefish markets. Prices out of Shetland should be understood as a regional check on that Peterhead signal, and Brixham prices are offered for comparison.
Unlike Peterhead and Shetland, Brixham Market, located in Devon, does not draw from North Atlantic stocks and is not subject to those stocks' quotas.
Brixham's most recent data was reported on 3 August. Cod prices averaged GBP 6.25 (USD 8.41, EUR 7.30, NOK 80.09) per kilogram, up from GBP 5.45 (USD 7.33, EUR 6.36, NOK 69.84) per kilogram one week earlier on 27 July, a GBP 0.80 (USD 1.08, EUR 0.93, NOK 10.25) per kilogram increase.
