Young’s appoints new group operations director

Mark Richmond has joined Grimsby, United Kingdom-based supplier Young’s Seafood Limited as its new group operations director, a role that will see him spearheading all manufacturing operations across the company, according to a press release announcing the hire.

A 40-year veteran of the British food manufacturing sector, Richmond comes to Young’s most recently from 2 Sisters Food Group Meals Solution Division, where he served as the divisional operations director, guiding operations across seven sites with more than GBP 500 million (USD 658.8 million, EUR 582.3 million) of annual sales. Prior to his work with 2 Sisters, Richmond held several senior operational roles for an array of firms including Greencore, Hazlewood Foods, and Entenmanns Baking Company.

Richmond’s appointment with Young’s will go into effect in mid-May of this year. He will also join the business’s board, Young's Seafood CEO Bill Showalter confirmed.

“Throughout his career, Mark has driven best in class quality, commercial and customer focused organizations that are able to succeed in demanding industries," Showalter said.

Young’s recently posted its first quarter accounts for 2019, which showed “a solid underlying performance, growth with key customers in own-label and foodservice, and continued growth in branded sales,” the company said.

The firm “remains on track with its plan, inspiring consumers to love fish through its fresh, frozen, own-label, and branded products,” it added.
