The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC) on 8 April removed the antidumping duty imposed on products from Fimex, NTSF Seafoods, and 29 other shrimp exporters from Vietnam in the preliminary results of its 13th administrative review of its antidumping duty order on frozen warm-water shrimp from Vietnam (POR13).
Fimex and NTSF Seafoods are two mandatory respondents for the review from 1 February, 2017, to 31 January, 2018, Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) said in a statement Wednesday, 10 April.
The 29 other companies for which a review was requested and that have established eligibility for a separate rate will also be administered a duty of zero percent. However, 67 other exporters that were not under review will face a rate of 25.76 percent.
Fimex confirmed the DOC’s preliminary results on 10 April.
“This is good news, because it proves that the data provided by Vietnamese enterprises has been properly considered by DOC. This serves as the foundation [for exporters] to enjoy the lowest tax rate in the upcoming final decision,” Fimex said in a statement on its website.
The DOC intends to issue the final results of this administrative review within 120 days of publication of these preliminary results in the Federal Register, unless the deadline is extended, DOC said in a document seen by SeafoodSource.
DOC announced on 10 September last year that the final antidumping duty for the review from 1 February, 2016, to 31 January, 2017, for Fimex is 4.58 percent. That rate was also imposed on other shrimp exporters from Vietnam, as FIMEX was the only mandatory respondent in the proceeding. The final antidumping duty was much lower than the preliminary result of 25.39 percent that DOC had announced in March 2018.
