A U.S.-based firm is planning to sign a supply deal with two firms in China’s freshwater crab producing region, according to Chinese media.
Great Wall Aquatic Products Co. recently met with Chinese firms Wuhan San Liang Group and Hua Shan Aquatic Products Co. with a view to exporting cooked, frozen and processed crab to the U.S., with American crustaceans shipped in turn to China.
The firms will meet in Boston in March at the 2017 Seafood Expo North America to sign the agreement, according to the regional bureau of the AQSIQ, a Chinese government agency that promotes Chinese exports and product standards.
It’s not clear from the AQSIQ statement where the Great Wall firm is based, and there are several trading firms in the U.S. bearing the name, with one large trader based in Los Angeles.
