In brief: Grieg Seafood acquires Erfjord Stamfisk

Grieg Seafood on Monday announced that it agreed to acquire the remaining 51.3 percent stake in Erfjord Stamfisk from Erfjord Næringsutvikling for NOK 45 million.

The deal is expected to be completed by mid-February. In 2010, Erfjord Stamfisk had a turnover of about NOK 109 million and an EBIT of about NOK 23 million. The company holds three brookstock production licenses and one R&D license. It also holds a 27.5 percent stake in breeding company SalmoBreed.

Clean Seas’ bluefin begins spawning

Clean Seas Tuna Ltd.’s southern bluefin tuna (SBT) broodstock began spawning late last week, Clifford Ashby, the company’s managing director, unveiled on Monday.

The Australian company is “well placed” for success in 2011, thanks to the various initiatives it launched over the past year — including a new recirculation hatchery for SBT, said Ashby. A new research and development team is in place at the company’s Arno Bay operation to support the hatchery team, he added.

Clean Seas also announced that its half-year results through 31 December haven’t been finalized yet and won’t be available until February.

Pacific Andes announces 2010 financial results

Pacific Andes on Friday released its 2010 financial results, including a gross profit of HKD 2.3 billion, up 10.2 percent from 2009. The frozen seafood supplier also announced an increase in revenue and EBITDA to HKD 11.5 billion and HKD 2.3 billion, respectively.

“We have successfully positioned ourselves to harnessing new opportunities and delivering satisfactory results in accordance with our growth plans,” said Ng Joo Siang, Pacific Andes’ managing director and vice chairman. “Our future is filled with opportunities. Opportunistic acquisitions and an ongoing focus on efficiency enhancement and operational excellence will continue to play a significant role in Pacific Andes’ strategy.”
