ScaleAQ announced land-based salmon-farming company Laxey has signed a contract to use its feed system in its flow-through salmon farm located in Iceland.
Laxey, originally called Icelandic Land Farmed Salmon, is working on a 32,000-metric-ton (MT) salmon farm in Iceland’s Westman Islands. The land-based farmer has previously signed agreements with equipment manufacturers like BAADER, Marel, and AKVA and hit milestones in 2025 when it transferred its first batch of salmon from a post-smolt facility to its grow-out tanks.
Those same salmon were later harvested in November 2025, which Laxey Head of Processing and Procurement Kristmann Kristmannsson said was an important step in the company’s development.
In a release, ScaleAQ said Laxey will use its feeding system in conjunction with silos from Norwegian manufacturer Helland.
ScaleAQ develops technology for the aquaculture sector and produces everything from pens and mooring solutions to software.
“We are very pleased to have signed this agreement. The most important thing is that what we deliver works well. The fact that they chose us for their continued investment shows that we keep our promises,” ScaleAQ Senior Sales Manager Trond Karlsen said in a release.
Helland will collaborate with ScaleAQ on delivering the feeding solution requested by Laxey.
“We are very pleased to deliver feeding equipment for the next construction phase at Laxey,” Helland General Manager Inge Stian Helland said. “This is an exciting project in Iceland, and the collaboration with ScaleAQ has worked very well. We are proud that Norwegian technology and equipment are being used at this outstanding facility.”
