Marine Harvest finishes Acuinova fish farming asset acquisition

Norwegian salmon farmer Marine Harvest has announced it has completed its purchase of the assets of former Chilean farmer Acuinova Chile for a total of USD 125 million (EUR 102.4 million).

Marine Harvest noted the final purchase price is USD 5 million (EUR 4.1 million) more than the initial price “to reflect a higher biomass at sea.”

The company first announced its interest in purchasing Acuinova’s assets in September, after Acuinova had declared bankruptcy.

The assets include a hatchery, smolt facility, 36 seawater licenses and primary and secondary processing facilities. The assets are expected to produce a harvest volume of about 15,000 metric tons HOG in 2015.
