New Marine Harvest CEO starts in July

Marine Harvest ASA on Tuesday announced that new CEO Alf-Helge Aarskog will take up his post on 19 July.

Aarskog, former CEO of Lerøy Seafood Group ASA, was named to the job in late March, less than a week after the Norwegian company ousted Åse Aulie Michelet. At the time, Marine Harvest said Aarskog would take up his new post no later than 1 October.

In the interim, Thomas Farstad, director of operations in Canada and Scotland, is serving as acting CEO of Marine Harvest, the world’s largest farmed salmon producer.

In late March, Marine Harvest chairman Ole-Eirik Lerøy called Aarskog “a well qualified manager with … an in-depth knowledge about the salmon farming industry.”
