Nigeria invests billions in aquaculture industry

Bayelsa government is investing NGN 1.17 billion (USD 7.3 million, EUR 5.5 million) on aquaculture farms; fish processing and storage facilities, while its foreign partners would source for NGN 2.73 billion (USD 17 million, EUR 13 million) to complete the project cost of NGN 3.9 billion (USD 24.3 million, EUR 18.3 million).

The State Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Dr. Thomas Commander disclosed this at the signing ceremony in Yenagoa yesterday.

Commander said the government signed a pact with the two foreign technical partners to establish aquaculture farms, fish processing and storage facilities in the state to boost food production for local consumption and export.
