Stellar 1H for Nutreco

Nutreco on Thursday reported its results for the first half of 2010, with all of its divisions improving their performance over the same period last year.

The Dutch fish feed manufacturer’s revenues for the first half of this year increased 5.8 percent to EUR 2.3 billion (USD 3 billion).

The company attributed its strong firs half to growth in its premix- and feed-specialty operations, the expansion of Norway’s farmed salmon production and the recovery of Chile’s farmed salmon industry.

“These results, the recovery of the markets and our good financial situation give us confidence for the future. We are also very pleased with the composition and quality of our results,” said Nutreco CEO Wout Dekker.

“For the second half of the year, we expect results in line with the very strong second half of 2009,” he added. “For the full year this will lead to an increase of approximately 25 percent in EBITA before exceptional items.”

For the remainder of 2010, the company said it will focus on strengthening its global position in fish-feed and premix- and feed-specialty businesses. It is also investing in expanding its production capacity.
