Atlantic Sustainable Catch – which is composed of Northern Wind, Suncoast Seafood, and Raymond O’Neill & Son Fisheries – has acquired Atlantic Capes Fisheries.
In a press release, Northern Wind announced it will take over the processing and sales divisions of the company. Atlantic Capes is a fully integrated seafood company with harvesting vessels and processing plants, specializing in a number of different shellfish species – including scallops.
“This strategic acquisition strengthens Northern Wind’s position as a premier provider of high-quality scallops and seafood products while reinforcing its unwavering commitment to sustainability, superior quality, and exceptional customer service,” Northern Wind said in a press release.
The company said that its acquisition of Atlantic Capes will expand its customers’ access to scallops while also expanding Northern Wind’s product portfolio to include an increased supply of lobster, mahi, crawfish, alligator, and clams.
"This acquisition marks an important milestone for Northern Wind," Northern Wind Founder and Chairman Ken Melanson – who also served as the interim CEO of Atlantic Sustainable Catch – said. “Atlantic Capes Fisheries shares our steadfast commitment to sustainability and integrity. Together, we are strategically positioned to meet the increasing demand for premium scallops and seafood products while ensuring the responsible stewardship of the resources that drive our industry forward."
With the acquisition, Northern Wind and Atlantic Sustainable Catch gain Atlantic Capes’ 25+ harvesting vessels, two unloading facilities, three processing plants, and “a fleet of delivery trucks.”
It also gains Jeff Bolton, who was formerly the CEO of Atlantic Capes Fisheries.
"I am truly honored to join Northern Wind as the President of Atlantic Sustainable Catch," Bolton said. “I am eager to contribute to the success of this acquisition and to help establish new benchmarks of excellence within the seafood industry."
The exact terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
