– The National Fisheries Institute (NFI) has named Brandon Shillingford to the role of media and communications manager.

NFI President and CEO Lisa Wallenda Picard said that she believed "Brandon will hit the ground running while he learns the seafood value chain and our policy and program."

Shillingford has communications and development experience – from international economic development organization ACDI/VOCA to reporting roles at CNN and on-air hosting duties at a Richmond, Virginia-area National Public Radio (NPR) affiliate.

"The seafood space is a dynamic one with a robust story to tell, and I look forward to being part of the team that delivers on such a positive narrative," Shillingford said. "From trade and innovation to sustainability and nutrition, there are so many important aspects of the seafood community that I look forward to working on."

Shillingford holds a degree in digital journalism from Virginia Commonwealth University.

– Bergen, Norway-headquartered fish-farming firm Grieg has named Nina Willumsen Grieg permanent CEO.

Willumsen Grieg took on the role of interim CEO in March 2025 after former CEO Andres Kvame stepped down after a decade in the position.

Willumsen Grieg, the daughter of the company’s largest shareholder and founder Per Grieg Jr., served as the regional director of Grieg Seafood Rogaland until her appointment as interim CEO.

The company has undergone a series of leadership changes in recent months, with Willumsen Grieg’s father also announcing his resignation from the chairman of the board role in May.

Upon her appointment as interim CEO, Willumsen Grieg launched an ambitious “transformation year” program at Grieg in response to, what she had previously called, a “challenging time for the company.”

That program, the first phase of which is now complete, involved a NOK 2 billion (USD 197.2 million, EUR 173.9 million) bond to pay the firm’s debt, the sale of its Finnmark smolt/post-smolt facility, and downscaling its work in Canada.

Søren Martens is the new adviser for the contract market and sales manager for Europe at Floro, Norway-based Bravo Seafood.

Martens is the co-founder of Fish Pool, a Norwegian salmon futures exchange which has been operating for nearly two decades.

In a LinkedIn post announcing his new role, Bravo Seafood said that Martens’ “unique expertise and background will strengthen us even further in a tough and competitive market.”

"After being known as 'Mr. Fish Pool' since we founded the salmon exchange in 2006, I have now started in Bravo Seafood, selling salmon to European clients, both in spot and contract markets," Martens said in his own LinkedIn post announcing the news.
