Holland Fisheries Event canceled due to COVID-19

The 11th edition of the Holland Fisheries Event has been canceled by its organizer, Stichting Visserijdagen Urk, due to uncertainties caused by COVID-19.

The Holland Fisheries Event features more than 100 national and international exhibitors every two years. According to a release from the organizers, current restrictive measures due to COVID-19 and uncertainty over what further measures will be taken by governments international were “determining factors for the final decision to cancel the exhibition,” which was originally planned to take place on 2 and 3 October this year.

"Despite all the precautions we can take, in the end it just proves too difficult to guarantee that we can organize a successful event in a safe environment," Stichting Visserijdagen Urk Chairman Klaas-Jelle Koffeman said.

Now, Stichting Visserijdagen Urk stated it is examining the possibility of a virtual presentation and meeting on the same dates. The next edition of the in-person event will take place on 7 and 8 October, 2022.

The cancellation adds to the long list of seafood trade shows that have been cancelled this year. The 2020 China International Fisheries Expo in Qingdao, China; Conxemar’s seafood trade shows in Vigo, Spain and Brussels, Belgium; and Diversified Communication’s 2020 editions of Seafood Expo North America/Seafood Processing North America, Seafood Expo Global/Seafood Processing Global, and Seafood Expo Asia have all been canceled due to COVID-19.
