Conxemar, the organizers of seafood trade shows in Vigo, Spain and Brussels, Belgium, have canceled both events due to the coronavirus crisis.
The International Frozen Seafood Exhibition, scheduled to take place in Vigo from 6 to 8 October, 2020, was canceled on 7 July.
“Conxemar has canceled the 2020 edition of the International Frozen Seafood Exhibition due to the current situation of uncertainty and the impact of the COVID-19,” Conxemar said on its website. “We deeply regret this decision being aware of what it means for our clients and at an economic level, especially in this harsh times for our city, to which we are very grateful for the support they have always given us since the beginning of our exhibition.”
The group was also planning a new trade show, scheduled for 18 to 20 April, 2021, in Brussels, but it has pushed it back a year “for the same reasons.”
Conxemar is an association of 245 Spanish seafood wholesalers, importers, manufacturers, and exporters. Its board of directors was the decision-making entity in the move to cancel the two events.
Conxemar Vigo is now scheduled for 5 to 7 October, 2021, and Conxemar Brussels will take place in the spring of 2022, though the organization has not yet released new dates for the event.
