– Boston, Massachusetts, U.S.A.-headquartered aquatic technology company Innovasea has announced the appointment of Miguel Martin to its recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) design team. Martin will be based at Innovasea’s Chile office.
Martin brings 10 years of experience in both facility management and RAS design to the role, having previously worked at Nofitech and Pure Salmon Technology. He has designed projects all over the world, including Norway, Scotland, Japan, the Faroe Islands, Brunei, and the U.S.
Innovasea Managing Director Juan Pablo Barrales said that Martin “brings invaluable experience in designing large-scale systems for salmon production.”
Of the appointment, Martin said that he loves “the challenge of understanding and solving each farm's unique needs with a custom solution to help them achieve their goals."
"The Chilean market represents an incredible opportunity for aquaculture growth, and I’m excited to help drive that progress,” he said.
– Aquabyte Founder Bryton Shang has been appointed by NOAA to a senior advisor role focusing on the application of artificial intelligence to enhance the agency’s work.
Shang founded Laksevåg, Vestland, Norway-based aquaculture tech company Aquabyte and also served as its CEO and executive chairman. The company uses computer vision and AI to provide insights to fish farmers about fish health, growth, and sustainability.
In a LinkedIn post about the appointment, Shang said that he was excited to participate in NOAA’s mission of “monitoring the world’s ocean and atmosphere.”
“NOAA’s role is critical to key businesses, protecting against natural disasters, and ensuring marine resources, and this role leverages my lifelong passion of applying AI to important world challenges,” Shang said.
