Wilsgård to run non-salmon farming business activities at SalMar, Gael Force Group names two sales managers

– Fredd Wilsgård, former eponymous owner of the salmon-farming company Wilsgård – will take over business activities at SalMar that are unrelated to fish farming and smolt production, SalMar Chief Strategy Officer Runar Sivertsen said in a post on LinkedIn 

 “An agreement has now been reached that Fredd Wilsgård will take over all other activities in the Wilsgård group apart from the food fish and captive fish activities,” Siversten said in the post. “The solution ensures continuity, secures workplaces, and lays the foundation for further growth.”

The news comes after the April purchase of Wilsgård’s former company Wilsgård by Salmar for USD 170 million

– Inverness, Scotland-based aquaculture technology, equipment, and supply company Gael Force Group have named Sigurður Steinþórsson and Alessandro Ciattaglia as its new Sales Managers. 

Steinþórsson and Ciattaglia will support the company’s strategic growth in international markets. Steinþórsson brings experience from the Iceland aquaculture sector to the role, while Ciattaglia will draw on a long history of work in sales to build inroads to European, Middle Eastern, and North African clients. 

 “These appointments reflect our continued commitment to sustainable, carefully managed export growth and further demonstrate our dedication to the wider aquaculture industry–,” Group Sales Director Jamie Young said in a release. “With their combined expertise and deep understanding of their respective countries, we are confident they will play a pivotal role in expanding our presence globally."

 Gael Force said, in the same release, that it is “committed to maintaining a strong local presence” in Scotland while it expands globally. 

–Utrecht, Netherlands-based Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) has appointed two experts, Professor Catriona MacLeod and Dr. Heidi Alleway, to its Technical Advisory Group (TAG). 

In a release about the news, ASC CEO Chris Ninnes welcomed MacLeod and Alleway and thanked them for their commitment to the organization. 

“Their combined experience and insight will be a valuable addition to the TAG as our global reach expands and deepens to deliver impact,”Ninnes said. 

MacLeod teaches at the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies of the University of Tasmania, where she specializes in marine and estuarine ecology, aquaculture, and environmental assessment and monitoring. 

Alleway is a Senior Aquaculture Scientist for The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Her areas of specialization include aquaculture, regenerative food systems, historical ecology, marine ecology, and marine policy. For TNC, she leads the global aquaculture strategy, which seeks to advance restorative aquaculture and regenerative food systems initiatives. 

In the same release, Ninnes put out a call for two new organization members of the Board of Trustees, one with a focus on NGO and social impact, and the other on industry, branding, or retail.
