Dsm-firmenich is planning to form two companies, Noviwest and Panavora, from the sale of its Animal Nutrition & Health business to CVC Capital Partners.

The company announced plans to divest from its Animal Nutrition & Health business in February for an enterprise value of EUR 2.2 billion (USD 2.46 billion), to CVC Capital Partners, a global private markets manager. The agreement followed its earlier sale of its Feed Enzymes activities to Novonesis – which provides a variety of biological solutions for a number of industries, including aquaculture – for EUR 1.5 billion (USD 1.7 billion) in 2025.

Dsm-firmenich is the creator of CAROPHYLL Pink, a carotenoid called astaxanthin that is widely used by the salmon industry in feed. The Animal Nutrition & Health arm of dsm-firmenich is also the creator of the “Digital SalmoFan,” a tool used to measure and rate the color of salmon fillets on a numeric scale that is widely used by the aquaculture and processing industries.

Dsm-firmenich said the creation of two new companies is intended to create focused businesses with “distinct strategies and complementary capabilities,” with Noviwest concentrating on essential ingredients and Panavora focusing on animal nutrition and health.

"Noviwest represents a new beginning built on decades of expertise and innovation,” Silvia Sonneveld, the head of the Vitamins unit at dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health and the designated CEO of the new company, said. “Our talented team remains fully committed to deliver high-quality vitamins, carotenoids and aroma ingredients to customers around the world. At a time when resilience and supply security are critical, we believe a strong European manufacturing base for essential vitamins plays a vital role in safeguarding food systems, animal nutrition and human health.”

Panavora, meanwhile, will work on innovating feed additives and a range of additional services, including digital products, the company said.

"The future of animal nutrition will be shaped by data, science and closer collaboration across the value chain,” Ivo Lansbergen, the president of dsm-firmenich’s Animal Nutrition & Health division and the designated CEO of Panavora, said.  “Panavora is being designed to help customers navigate that future with confidence by combining nutritional expertise, innovative solutions and precision capabilities that translate complex challenges into measurable results.”
