SeafoodSource is closely following the sustainable seafood movement by compiling a regular roundup of sector updates pertaining to eco-certifications.
- Pardeen Eiland, Cape Town, South Africa-based Cape Fish has achieved Best Seafood Practices (BSP) and Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP). Cape Fish specializes in handling large pelagic, such as yellowfin tuna, swordfish, farmed kob, yellowtail, and swordfish.
- On 1 March, 2023 the Aquaculture Stewardship Council ASC announced the launch of stakeholder consultation on water quality and fish health and welfare, and the scope extension project to the European species of pike-perch. The new water quality proposal will be included in the ASC farm standard, ASC said in a press release.
- Buckie, Moray, Scotland-based Associated Seafoods recently became the first seafood company in the U.K. to receive Best Seafood Practices certification. Associated Seafoods produces its seafood sourced from wild-capture fisheries and aquaculture and has proven responsible practices.
