Sustainable seafood supplier Blue Horizon Wild on Friday announced that it has retained Edward Cassano of ERC Consulting to act as the Santa Cruz, Calif., company’s senior VP and director of sustainability.
Cassano, with more than 25 years experience in ocean conservation, Cassano is the former senior director of the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s conservation outreach division, where he directed its Seafood Watch program. Cassano is also a SeafoodSource blogger.
“There are incredible complexities in today’s seafood industry, especially in the emerging category of sustainable seafood” said John Battendieri, founder and COO of Blue Horizon Seafood. “Ed will enable Blue Horizon Wild to expand our network of responsible fisheries and ensure our sources are maintaining fishing practices that protect and restore healthy fish populations.”
