Manno's Brothers rose shrimps get FoS nod

Italian seafood producer Manno’s Brothers has received certification from Friend of the Sea for its rose shrimps, the first Italian company to get the certification for that species.

Based in Tuscany, the company fishes in the Tyrrhenian Sea and sells seafood to the national market.

“We’re deeply engaged in protecting the marine ecosystem,” said Maurizio Manno, the company’s president. "Being part of Friend of the Sea further recognizes (our) efforts in this sense.”

According to Friend of the Sea, the company does not overexploit the stocks or fish in protected areas. The company has a “negligible” discard rate, and uses GPS to assist with traceability.
