The Migros chain has offered up a new set of pledges that it says will see it become more sustainable and eco-friendly. The supermarket giant has unveiled a set of 10 promises as part of its “Generation M” sustainable development program.
Amongst the pledges is a declaration to raise the proportion of fish and seafood that is sourced sustainably to 60 percent by 2015, and to 100 percent by 2020. Such products must carry a label from the MSC (Marine Stewardship Council) or ASC (Aquaculture Stewardship Council), or must be among the species listed by the WWF as “recommended” or “acceptable.”
