The Marine Stewardship Council last week announced that Mike Boots, director of the Seafood Choices Alliance in Silver Spring, Md., was elected to its board of trustees, effective in August.

In that context, MSC certification is currently the most tangible, independent and widely marketed option available to fisheries to demonstrate responsible practice," says Boots. "I'm delighted to have this opportunity to help shape MSC's ongoing success as it responds to the challenge of operating across complex, global markets."
In addition, MSC announced Wicharn Sirichai Ekawat, managing director of various fishery and industrial organizations in Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Yemen and Mozambique, has completed his term and resigned from the board after more than five years.
