TUF joins UN Global Compact

Thai Union Frozen Products (TUF) announced today that the company is joining the United Nations' Global Compact to promote sustainable and socially responsible seafood.

The company is the first in Thailand to join the international compact, according to TUF. In a statement, company executives said TUF has been working with partner companies, such as Chicken of the Sea in the U.S. and MW Brands in Europe to continue to promote socially-responsible practices.

“When TUF was founded in 1988 we made economic, social and environmental practices part of our vision to be a sustainable company, and that commitment continues today as we expand across the globe,” said Thiraphong Chansiri, TUF's president. "Living up to these commitments through the UN Global Compact will ensure that TUF and all its global brands and businesses remains a reliable provider of safe and quality seafood products.”

The company's statement also cited its collaboration with the labor rights promotion network, and its efforts to promote education in Thailand for young children.
