US seafood supplier launches mobile traceability app

American seafood supplier National Fish & Seafood announced the launching of a new mobile application for seafood farmers to manage traceability.

The app, SourceTrace, compatible with Android-enabled devices, can process and analyze data from all aspects of seafood farming to offer traceability details throughout the production process, from hatching to harvest. It also maintains legal and other documents associated with the process.

"This will revolutionize and streamline the critical work of traceability for aquaculture leaders around the world,” said Rajkumar Gollapalli National Fish aquaculture and sustainability specialist. “It makes this process faster, easier, more reliable and more efficient."

The Penver Group, the first seafood farmer ever to achieve four-star sustainability certification status from the Global Aquaculture Alliance, has volunteered to pilot the new technology, and is working together with National Fish to introduce the app throughout seafood farmers in India.

National Fish & Seafood is the American division of Pacific Andes Group.
