The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) has withdrawn its objection to the Marine Stewardship Council certification of Russian Sea of Okhotsk Pollock fishery.
WWF and the Russian Pollock Association reached a mutually-agreed solution, enabling WWF to withdraw its formal objection to the certification. The agreement includes five changes to the conditions and client action plan.
However, the At-sea Processors Association (APA) is still standing in the way of the fishery’s certification. The APA has requested a hearing of the objection that will take place in London, possibly in late May or early June.
Certification cannot be issued until the objection by APA has been dealt with.
